The Carrollton Bluefins gained a lot of experience Saturday at the expense of the Athens Bulldog Swim Club. Even though the Bluefins out numbered the visitors the score was kept in dual meet fashion where only the top three individuals score and the first place relay. The final scores were Total team score Athens 219, Bluefins 112 , Boys; Athens 108, Bluefins 46 and Girls; Athens 111, Bluefins 66.

During the meet the Bluefins achieved 45% best times, with the majority coming from the younger swimmers. “Our swimmers swam very well this early in the season. Our top kids did really well we just have to develop more depth in each age group over the next couple of months,” said Coach David Weeks. The design of the meet was definitely not in our favor as we have a bunch of really fast younger swimmers, but they all had to swim against 10 year olds Saturday at longer distances.” He continued, “this will definitely make us better as we get into the championship season. Our top swimmers will need to continue to do well as the younger ones improve.”

The Bluefins continue to show they have quality swimmers in the older division as Joshua Grover led the older boys with 3 first place finishes along with a second, while recording a best time. Carolyn Ives, just returning following volleyball season paced the senior girls with 1 first and 2 seconds. Coach Weeks also added, that the 13 & over girls had to swim against the seniors and while that put them at a slight disadvantage, they had a lot of personal best times.
